MEET THE MASTERS

Meet the Masters is a volunteer art history & art appreciation program that introduces children to the world of fine art—guiding students on an adventure in “seeing” through fun presentations and projects. We’re so grateful to all our teachers and volunteers for supporting the arts by facilitating Meet The Masters sessions.

WHY IS ART EDUCATION
IMPORTANT?

What do kids learn from looking at art?

  • Focus & increased attention span

  • Higher order thinking (analyze, compare, criticize)

  • Empathy across social & cultural boundaries

  • Connection

  • Respect (people / things that are different)

  • Observation & awareness

  • Understanding media & images

  • Understanding of self (thoughts & feelings)

  • Curiosity, creativity & wonder

PROJECT GALLERIES

The following projects have been created by Meet The Masters volunteers.
Click on any image for additional pictures and details (materials, templates, featured artists, etc).
Contact MTM Committee if you would like to have a project featured.

While some projects work well for different grades, it’s important to avoid repeating the same projects throughout a student’s elementary years. Keeping a list of completed projects can help ensure variety and a richer learning experience.
